Driveways, Roofs & 50 Degree Temperature

The air temperature should be at least 50 degrees so paint can cure

50 degrees! That’s how warm (or warmer) it should be when you install a roof, seal a driveway or paint a porch! Why?

The process of painting or sealing your driveway has several steps. After you’ve applied these products, there is a period of time when chemical reactions occur called “curing”. Until the curing or drying completes, the surface doesn’t achieve the hardness promised. For paint and driveway sealcoating, the rule of thumb for curing is 30 days but this assumes temperatures above 50 degrees.
